Sunday 12th September saw the 40th anniversary of the Great North Run. I was lucky enough to be up there to see my son Tom take part and and it gave me the opportunity to capture some memories of the event.
I have tried to capture the whole essence of the Great North Run from a great vantage point on the Gateshead side of the Tyne Bridge. Images include some of the wheelchair racers, some blind runners with their guides, Liz McColgan’s daughter Eilish who managed to finish 2nd in her debut half marathon, just six seconds adrift of Hellen Obiri, Mens winner Marc Scott, equally as close with a nine second gap to Ed Cheserek in second, plus penty of images of those who ran for fun, including Tom. You can also see a few experimental shots taken for fun.
